Analysing Land Title Layers in BOOM!

Step 1: Setting Up the Map

1. Open BOOM!’s Data Studio and choose a location, such as Deal in Kent;

2. Navigate to the Land Titles panel on the left toolbar and activate it;

3. Deselect irrelevant ownership types:

   1. Unregistered;

   2. Rent Charge;

4. Zoom-in to render larger land titles, with smaller titles appearing as you zoom further.

Step 2: Visualise Freehold and Leasehold Titles

1. Change the visualisation mode to Class of Title:

   1. Teal represents freehold titles.

   2. Purple represents leasehold titles.

2. Observe sites with overlapping ownership, where both freehold and leasehold titles exist.

Step 3: Interact with Layered Titles

1. Use Right-Click to remove the top layer of ownership:

   1. For a site with both freehold and leasehold, right-click removes the freehold layer, revealing the leasehold;

   2. Continue right-clicking to cycle through multiple leaseholds on the same site;

2. Identify the number of leaseholds by observing:

   1. The saturation of the purple shading (darker shading indicates multiple leaseholds);

   2. The count of removed layers in the Trash Bin icon on the right toolbar.

Step 4: Reset the Map

1. Click the Trash Bin icon to restore all removed titles to the map;

2. Resume analysis with a fresh view of the land titles.
