Exploring Points of Interest (competition layer) within BOOM!
Step 1: Focus on a target location
Open BOOM!’s Data Studio and select your target location. For this tutorial, we chose Bristol;
Zoom in and activate the Land Titles layer from the left toolbar;
Filter for Freehold titles by deselecting leasehold, rent charge, and unregistered options.
Step 2: Activate the Points of Interest layer
From the left toolbar, select the Points of Interest or competition layer (fourth panel from the bottom);
Choose relevant categories such as "Restaurants" or "Parking" to understand the services and infrastructure surrounding a site.
Step 3: Analyse Zones of Influence
Turn on specific POI categories to view their zones of influence around a site;
For example, identify nearby restaurants to evaluate the dining options available for future residents;
Use the parking layer to assess the suitability of a proposed car-free scheme;
Adjust the zones dynamically by dragging the centre point or selecting new areas on the map.
Step 4: Access Detailed Information
Click on POI pins to reveal additional information about specific services or infrastructure;
Open links to external resources for deeper insights into a service or facility.
